Legal Question in Criminal Law in Alaska
A friend is asking me to fax a written witness statement for a criminal event that happened over the weekend which they are being charged, so they can give it to thier lawyer. Is this a normal request from a lawyer, to have their client obtain a witness statement?

Some do it that way. Why are you surprised? Not all lawyers have their own investigators.
If the lawyer feels that the information contained in your statement will be helpful, he or she will probabably follow up with talking to you in person.
