Legal Question in Family Law in Alaska

I was married in India and then divorced in the USA. I am a USA resident and citizen. Is my divorce recognized in India or am I still legally married there? If the divorce is not recognized, how do I obtain an Indian divorce from overseas with a missing (ex)husband who has remained in India?

The question of whether India would recognize a U.S. divorce is not something I can answer; although I suspect the answer to be "yes". It is a matter of treaty &/or "comity".

Why does it matter? Is there property in India? Minor children? Are you seeking alimony?
