Legal Question in Family Law in Alaska

relinquishing rights

my ex-girlfriend wants me to relinqush all my rights so that her husband can adopt the two girls that she tells me are mine, but denies DNA test completely. I owe back child support, if I relinquish all rights to the children would I still have to pay the back child support I already owe?

Re: relinquishing rights

The back child support would still be due. However, you could ask her to forgive the back child support, assuming that it is owed to her and not the county. If the back support is owed to the county you will not be able to work out a deal with her. Seeking legal advice may save you a considerable sum of money.
