retirement benefits of the husband to the wife

is the exwife of a retiring deputy u.s. marshal entitled to any of the marshal's retirement. marriage lasted from 8-29-72 to 12-6-82. 3 children from marriage. never rec'd child support. not a divorce actually, a disolusionment.

It's going to depend on the law in you particular state.GENERALLY speaking you would have been entitled to get a share of it if you had addressed the matter at the time of the divorce.... but if the divorce decree did not mention it, you might be unable to get anything now.You need to contact an experienced domestic relations attorney in the state where the divorce was granted in order to deterime what rights you might have now.
