Legal Question in Family Law in Alaska

serving divorce papers

I would like to save some money by serving my divorce papers myself. The problem is that my ex is clear across the country. Is there a way to serve by certified mail or something?

Re: serving divorce papers

The divorce papers can be forwarded to the defendant spouse by regular mail, and, if she cooperates with the process, she will sign the notice of acceptance of service of process and the various waivers and have them notarized as appropriate and then returned to you for processing with the court. No certified mail is necessary nor required.
