Legal Question in Family Law in Alaska

ex spouse trying to get emergency custody

A friend of mine has full custody of her son and has remarried a very reputable army officer. This summer the exspouse (father of the son) is causing a situation in which he is over shadowing the child telling the military advocate that his son is afraid to come home to the place he knows and loves. The father is claiming that the child is abused and mistreated at home and the he should get emergency custody rights for the safety of his son. The boy and his mother are very close. The mother and step father have been questioned by the advocates. The father refuses to take the child to a therapist to have the child alone with someone to find out if he is abused or not. The mother provides security and home comforting at all times and the son gets along great with the step father. She needs and attourney in Alaska that can help her get her son back and stop this maddness that this man(her ex) is causing her and her family. Please is there anything that can be done to help her. Jag officials refuse to help because it is a civil matter and her finances are tight.

Re: ex spouse trying to get emergency custody

Yes, I would say that you're right, the mother needs an attorney in Alaska to represent her interests there and to ameliorate whatever injustices the father and his unwitting JAG enablers may be perpetuating against not only the mother but also against the best interests of the child.
