Legal Question in Family Law in Alaska
I am stuck in a situation where I am a minor and a mother. I am 17 years old and my son is 2 years old. For the past year I have not lived in my Mothers house. She does not support me, what so ever. My sons child support checks are going straight to her, under her name and she has kept them to herself. Like I said, I haven't lived with her. So, therefore she is not supporting either one of us. Does she have the right to keep all of the child support money to herself? Or is it suppose to go to me?

It appears that, depending on the circumstances, you could apply to the court for an order that the checks go directly to you.
What are the circumstances under which the child support payments were originally ordered? Did your mother go to court or did she go through CSED?
It is also unclear what circumstances you are living under. You say that your mother doesn't support you or your child. Who are you living with and how are you supporting yourself. I ask this because it may be that it would be appropriate for you to petition to be emancipated.
