Legal Question in Family Law in Alaska

My wife's ex-husband has refused for many years to pay her her portion of the settlement as dictated in their dissolution. Does she now have to obtain a court judgement in order to attempt to collect on this debt? Or is the dissolution itself considered a judgement and she could just immediately start with the debt collection? Thank you.

In general, a divorce decree is a judgment. If I were representing her I would need to look at all pertinent documents, but in general, yes, she doesn't need to obtain a new judgment (assuming both parties are in Alaska and the divorce decree was entered in an Alaskan court).
