holding paychecks

i was told not to come back to my job on sunday and since have filed for umeployment. i still have one pay check left which i plan on picking up today. well, i was told that i can not get my last check unless i sign a paper saying i willingly quit, which is not the case, so i can not get unemployment. can they legally hold my pay?

Re: holding paychecks

If you were employed in Pennsylvania they are required to make payments within 2 weeks of the regular payday or they violate the State Wage Act. A violation allows you to collect a 25% penalty and attorneys fees. Do not sign anything that states you voluntarily left as it will be held against you at an unemployment hearing. I offer free consultations.
