Legal Question in Employment Law in Alaska
I am a public school teacher and have been told by my principal that there are complaints about me saying negative comments in staff meetings and collaboration meetings. She also said that staff members are afraid of me. I was also told that she has collected evidence by having the assistant principal write down everything I say in meetings. I would like to tape all future staff meetings and collaboration meetings without telling anyone. Is this legal?

Twelve states have so-called "two-party consent" laws, which provide that all parties to a conversation have to agree if it is to be recorded. Alaska is not one of those states, so if you are aware that the conversation is being recorded, you are not breaking the law.
