Salaried employee hours
I work as a service employee in a 24/7/365 industry. My contract does not state anything about expected hours or consecutive days worked - however when I was offered this position (transferred from Louisiana to Alaska) it was stated that I would be working M-F approximately 12 hours per day. Within the last month I have had 3 instances where I was directed to work more than 24 consecutive hours. I have scoured the US Dept of Labor website to find information concerning my rights with no success. (FYI I am considered a ''highly compensated'' professional and my salary is complimented by a ''day rate'' which is paid to compensate for 12 hour days.) We are in the first stages of a project that will last for approximately 3 months and I would like to know my rights before discussing with my (somewhat belligerent) employer.
