Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Alaska
Built house on parents property and now they want it moved
Hello,
We built a small cabin on my husbands parents property. We decided to move in August cause he got a job and wanted to be closer because of the commute. The agreement was that we would be back to live in the cabin on the weekends but since then things have gone bad and now they want the cabin off the land. We had power run to us, his parents and his brother and signed an agreement with the power company to pay $5000 over the next 5 years. My question is since they want our house off the property is there anyway we can force them to take over the monthly payments or pay off the intire amount owed to the power company? Any help would be greatly welcomed.

Re: Built house on parents property and now they want it moved
Your rights and options in this situation depend entirely on the nature and content of your contracts with your parents and the power company. It is therefore impossible to answer your question without a detailed analysis of all contracts and communications which took place before, during and after the extension of the power lines to the site.
