Rental Lease Agreement

I recently moved from Alaska to Nevada, and have not received my Security deposit from my landlord, nor an explanation as to why. I did break the lease due to losing my job, but he seemed alright with that. I gave 30 days notice and followed the move out procedures, except for having the rugs shampooed, as it was a large apartment. What recourse do I have at this point? I only have a cell phone number to call him, and he screens the calls so he never answers. I do however have his mailing address.

If you broke the lease to go to Alaska to work, don't expect to get your security deposit back fro your landlord. He will keep it as damages for unpaid rent.
