Crohn's disease

Hello, I'm a PV2 in the U.S. Army and I just got told I got crohn's disease and I've been hearing there's a chance I can be medically discharged for this and was wondering how big of and a chance and is there truth to it and could I get medical retirement or no???

Whether you get medically discharged or not depends on the severity of the impairment. A board would have to decide if you are physically fit for full duty and can perform the duties of your rank and rating. If not, you would either be medically discharged or retired, depending on the level of disability rating you are awarded. 30% disability or more is necessary for medical retirement. Anything less than 30% and you would be separated with severance pay. A Physical Evaluation Board (PEB) would have to make these decisions and you can appeal it if you think it is not accurate.
