Legal Question in Personal Injury in Alaska

Lack of progress on my case

I obtained an attorney November 17, 1999, due to being hit by a drunk driver in July of 98. This attorney agreed to take my case, but has done very little to settle. He doesn't return my calls and I really don't think he's tried to get much information regarding my situation. What do I do about an attorney that I feel is not doing their job?

Re: Lack of progress on my case

Was there a complaint filed by the attorney? If not then (assuming this is an Alaska case) the statute of limitations has expired and your recourse is to seek redress against the attorney (i.e sue him). If a complaint was filed and the case just appears to be languishing I would phone him and leave a message that if he does not return your call you will go sit in his lobby until he speaks with you or (alternatively) leave a message that you will call the Alaska Bar Association (their number is in the phone book) and file a grievance. I am concerned that the attorney may not have filed a complaint and is avoiding you knowing that he has committed malpractice. I would be happy to discuss the case with you further if you contact me.
