Legal Question in Personal Injury in Alaska

Tractor Damage

A neighbor who is an equipment operator by trade asked if he could use my Tractor to unload hay from his trailer. Sine he had previously loaned me his trailers on several occassions and since he is an equipment operator I felt compelled. When the tractor was returned I notice that a chain hook was broken on the bucket. He stated that it broke while trying to pull an old mobile home (70') with a chain attached to bucket. A week or two later I noticed a clicking in the front differential, but it went away. He asked again to borrow it. Reluctantly I did. He called me shortly after saying the front differential was making noise. Long story short. $5,000 repair. Mechanic said lifting mobile home and pulling backward would definitely breat gears. I asked neighbor to at least pay half. He will not. Case??

Re: Tractor Damage

File a complaint with small claims court, which you can do yourself. I believe the limit in small claims court is $5,000.
