Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Alaska
My brother passed away on 6/7/2008 in Anchorage, Alaska. He had survived a co-owner of a condo. The property was sold on 8/5/2010 by the Municipality of Anchorage. I was contacted by a representative of the Municipality, advising me to obtain the services of an attorney to acquire any proceeds that resulted from the sale. She mentioned a quit claim as a possibility, but I'm not sure if that can be done after the sale. I live in Ohio & the Anchorage Real Estate lawyer I spoke to wants to charge $260 per hr. Can we do this without an attorney? If not, what is the least costly way to proceed?

I charge a lot less than $260 per hour.
Let me see if I understand the situation:
Your brother was a co-owner of a condo. Who was the other owner?
The MOA sold it for back taxes?
What part would a quitclaim deed play in all of this? As I understand it, the MOA has sold it, so title is in the name of the buyer. You would quitclaim your interest, if any, to the buyer in return for the proceeds of the sale?
