Legal Question in Traffic Law in Alaska
Driving Record
I received a ticket in West MEmphis AR. The ticket was for prohibited driving, but on my driving record it is careless driving. I am a truck driver and was unable to attend court so I paid the ticket. Now I can not change jobs and be home with my family, which is what I would like to do. Is there anything that I can do to get this reduced on my driving record?

Re: Driving Record
You could contact the police department that gave you the ticket. Did you keep a copy of the ticket? The prohibited and careless may be the same to the insurance company. You might check with them. It may be just a mistake somewhere along the line that got the charge incorrectly stated. You, or your attorney, may want to contact the insurance agency or whoever it is that wrote it on your record as careless driving.
Re: Driving Record
From the court date, you have 30 days to appeal the ticket to circuit court. What you really wanted was a "Plea under advisement". That would keep it off of your record. If you cannot get the Prosecutor to go along with that, then appeal it and ask the circuit judge for PUA.
