Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Alaska

death and bills

My mother passed away with no property and only a few grand in the bank and we didn't go through probate. My question is what do we do about her bills, there's more bills then money?

Re: death and bills

Respond to each creditor with a letter informing them that your mother has passed, did not leave any life insurance (if true), no savings account, stocks, etc - and some may require a copy of the death certificate as proof. They will want to know if an estate was open, or if any money was left over. Upon receipt of your letter, and confirming its truth, they will likely close the account.

If there is no money, there is really nothing they can do, after verifying there were no assets they could possibly use to satisfy their debt.
