Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Alaska

Probate court

My father passed away in march of this year. I am the only child and he was not married. He was homeless, only cloths were his possetions which were donated to a local charity. Although he does have a piece of property which he was behind in taxes and payments. I made all the back payments and are currently making the payments. How can I get the property into my name without hiring an attorney? There is no will and no one to contest that I am the sole hiere.

The death and property were in Alaska. Any help will be greatful.

Thank you

Re: Probate court

I'd be happy to forward your question to a friend who is licensed in AK.

If the property was located in WA I could tell you that you have to take it through probate to clear title to the property - there is no other way to do it.

But it is in AK. I'm not licensed there and I don't know their probate codes.

But I'll find out for you.
