Legal Question in Workers Comp in Alaska
Do I have any legal options when my workers compensation claim reaches MMI.
I suffered spinal damage while sorking a summer job in Alaska to pay for college. I am 28. I have been recieving medical treatment for the past 4 years. I have had very little succes despite trying any and all options including surgeries and anything we could come up with. I am in constant pain, and not able to work. I also am very tired from medication and pain, and can barely function without sleeping every few hours. At MMI I will recieve a ''settlement'' which is insubstantial. This will not allow me to live without a good job. Which I cannot perform. Do I need a lawyer? and am I entitled to anything else to allow me to live an financially independent lifestyle, and to cover wages that have and will continue to be lost throughout my life? Because of my disability a ''normal'' life will be more expensive for me than most. Coupled with minimal financial compensation since I was injured on a ''part time summer job'',I have not made the money that a normal college graduate does. I would like to know what options are available to me, to allow me to live an independent, and financially viable life, in my condition.

You certainly should speak with an attorney. Probably, an Alaska attorney. However, if you were working for a Minnesota company at the time of the injury, you could have a minnesota claim.
