Re: Az. Drivers Liscense

A statute of limitations only limits the time an opposing party has to file suit to get a judgment. As long as the judgment was properly obtained (i.e., the original suit against you was filed in 1995), no statute of limitations defense would apply. Furthermore, if suit was NOT filed in time, and you did not appear and argue that a statute of limitations applied, you might have waived that defense, and the judgment would continue against you anyway.

If someone does have a judgment against you, and they go through proper procedures to renew it periodically, that judgment can remain valid throughout your life, unless you pay it off or otherwise satisfy or discharge it (for example, some judgments may be dischargeable in bankruptcy). If you contact the opposing lawyer and make arrangements to make time payments against the judgment, s/he may agree to let you get your driver's license as long as you are making regular payments.
