Legal Question in Administrative Law in Arizona
I represent a 501(c)(3) corporation non profit in Arizona. We are going to change our name and need suggestions on how to go about that so we don't miss anything legally. Old name: Valley of the Sun School and Habilitation Center
New name: VALLEYLIFE
Thank you,

First you would want to do a name search on the Arizona Corporation Commission website. If the name you want is taken--particularly if it's in the same field--you cannot use it. If it is not taken, or it's only taken in another field, then you can try to reserve that name with the ACC. Also, apply for a servicemark with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to protect it nationwide. Then file a name change with the ACC. Best of luck!
