I have filed bankruptcy and would like to know if it is better to short sale my home before the court date or turn the home over to the court. Then how long after can I buy a home?

You probably should discuss this with your bankruptcy attorney right away.

I have filed bankruptcy There is no set time. It's up to the bank who finances you, however, you need to get the title out or your name as soon as possible, so I would say a short sale with the permission of the trustee.
