As a franchise attorney who also works with 501c3 organizations, I can tell you this is not a simple question that can be answered on a bulletin board like this one. There are rather complex filings required and you should engage an attorney who specializes in 501c3's. Consult with a good business or franchise attorney in your area for specific advice.
