Legal Question in Business Law in Arizona
collection of debt that has already been paid twice
Recently, I recieved a phone call from another collection agency trying to collect on a debt that has already been paid off twice, I have kept records of payment and am a bit upset because it seems that everytime I pay they sell the collection to another agency and never remove the debt from the credit report. Basically I refuse to pay the same debt again for the third time and am quit frankly tired of the harrassment of the collectors. I explained the situation to the new collectors and they refuse to give me a fax number so I can show them proof of paying they requested my bank routing number so that I can pay them and I refused to give them my information and asked them politly not to harrass me any further, she than replied that she would call back everyday until I give them my information to settle this debt yet once again. What steps can I take to get this matter to stop?

No legitimate collection agency would ask for your band routing number under the circumstances. You may be the victim of a scam. Contact the Attorney General's office.
