Legal Question in Business Law in Arizona

independent contractor invention

I am an indpenedent contractor for a med firm. I have discovered and in turn implemented a new manner for this form that will enable the firm to bring on many many more patients and have insurance pay for it. Prior to this discovery, employer had never even thought of this possibility. I wish to share this info but fear I will not get paid for it or worse they will steal it. Can I trademark or somehow protect the idea so when I share it I am protected in that I can negoitate a payment for it and if not hapy they can not steal it

Re: independent contractor invention

You may be able to copyright, but that will probably not solve your problem.

Get a proper, binding contract that guarantees your rights, ownership and payment. See a business attorney. You are welcome to consult with us in a free, no obligation consultation by shceduling at 480.835.1500. A good contract is the way to go in this situation. I recently did a similar contract for a software consulting firm.

Best regards,
