Legal Question in Business Law in Arizona
sold business
i sold a resturant that i owned the business but not the property the person who brought it from me defaulted on the lease i gave up my right to be first to get the lease back so the owner sold the building along w/resturant.that person still owes me 20.000.00 she was set up through a title co. to make payments to me she made 1or 2 her and her husband both signed for the business they both have good jobs and own a house she said they owe me nothing and they are getting a divorce and if i try to sue or claim my money they will go bankrucpt if you could please help in anyway i would really appreciate it my family has lost what little money we had and we would like to get back what we feel is owed to us . we are living check to check i don't know were to go for help!

Going only by the facts you present, and without a review of your documents and agreements it is difficult to give a proper opinion. It looks like you will have to sue them for your money. If they file bankruptcy you may or may not get anything. You could hire an attorney on a conintency agreement to collect from them. Perhaps another attorney would be able and willing to attempt to sue them. We would not be able to accept this case at this time on a percentage contingency agreement, but there are many attorneys in this state.
