can anyone else use my trade name on their business in local
newspapers?

No, not if you properly registered your trade name. You should employ an attorney to notify the others of violating your rights and to cease and desist further use of your trade name.

You have common law rights in the name if you have used it the longest and can prove that, but in this Internet world you need a federal trademark to lock down your name for the future. Please contact our office if you would like to do that. Tom is our Intake Paralegal and he is in today.
