Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Arizona

invasion of privacy

If someone that you were talking to on the phone had been recording the conversation without your knowledge, would that be considered invasion of ones privacy? And.. would the tape recording be allowed to be used in a court of law?

And do these laws vary from state to state?

There are federal laws regarding the unauthorized recording of telephone conversations, and there are state laws as well. The federal laws are appliable to the entire country and the state laws to thosE states in which they were adopted. I don't know about Arizona, I am a California attorney. But, the federal law prohibits the practice you describe and my guess is it is not admissable evidence in your state courts. Check with an Arizona attorney, or the ACLU.
