Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Arizona

Collection from previous marriage

Ex-Husband filed bankruptsy after divorce and a collector is trying to get me to pay on a credit card. It was a joint acct, but at the time, I didn't remove my name, nor thought I would be effected. The cc was opened in WA, but he filed bankruptsy in AZ, about 5 yrs ago. The amount is around $3k, is there anything I can do to avoid paying?

Re: Collection from previous marriage

The creditor may be barred from collecting this judgment if the applicable statute of limitations has ran. In Arizona, the creditor would have 6 years from the date of the breach (failure to pay) to bring an action.
