illlegal reporting to credit agency

We had a mini van we voluntary gave back in about 1995 from Ugly Duckling in Arizona, we owed probably about $5000 and they told us it would be sold and they would deduct that fromwhat we owed. Since then it has been sold over and over again to different companies and now it says our balance is $18,860 - how can I get this off my credit report - it's over 10 years old now

1. Pay the money. 2. Negotiate for a lesser amount and pay that. 3. File bankruptcy.
