money judgment
My daughter has a judgment to pay $494.00 to an apartment complex. They tured it over to collections. Collections wants $1990.38. Can they do that?

Yes, many times a tenant owes a money judgment for an eviction, and also other costs that are calculated after the tenant leaves the apartment. Costs could be cleaning, damages and rent due under the contract that are incurred after the eviction. Therefore, the landlord may assign both the judgment and other costs to the collection agency. It sounds like your daughter may be in such a situation.
