Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Arizona

My mother lives with me. My brother who lived in her home opened various accounts in her name without her permission or knowledge. I am her financial power of attorney and he did not get my permission either. Is my mother responsible for the outstanding bills he left her since they are in her name?

Your mother should contact an attorney and file an identity theft affidavit. If she was willing to do this and file a police report (when she files the police report, she does not have to actually press charges), at that point she should not be held liable for the debts, nor should they be placed on her credit reports.
