How many times a day can a debt collector call you. I get between 4-8 calls a day on my cell and home number. I work and cannot take the calls at work.

The law restricts a debt collector to "reasonable" collection efforts. Whether 4-8 calls per day is "reasonable" depends upon the time of the calls.
However, once a debt collector has been advised by a consumer that he can not accept personal calls at work, the debt collector has to cease making calls there.
If the number of calls are "unreasonable", depending upon the time of the calls, or continues to call after being advised that a consumer cannot accept personal calls at work, it is a violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
