Aggravated assault

I have a friend that is in jail awaiting trial for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. he says he did not have a weapon but he did hit the guy. he has a little bit of a history. He has one or two assaults on his record as well as a theft charge. He previously did 4 years for the theft part. So my question to you is how what kind of sentence from the least to the max will he get. Thanks for returning to my question.

Aggravated Assault with a deadly weapon is a class 2 dangerous offense. With two or three prior felony convictions Defendant will receive 21 - 35 years. 28 years is the presumptive or what someone would usually receive unless their sentence was mitigated or aggravated. Someone who has a significant record would usually receive an aggravated sentence - in excess of 28 years but not to exceed 35 years.
