Legal Question in Criminal Law in Arizona

Assault

I was charged with assault in Scottsdale. I dont remeber much because i had

been drinking and the other individual involved hit my head. What I do

remember was that my I was trying to get my drunken friend a cab, another

individual and i got into an altercation and I was knocked down. He got into

his car with his girfriend. I knocked on the window of his car and he got out

and attacked me. I was charged with assault of the girl because she fell

durring the altercation.I did not fight back and i was hit in the head. Should I

get a lawyer? If convicted am i looking at jail time? I was not taken to jail and I

was the only one cited. Can the other party file a civil lawsuit?
