Legal Question in Criminal Law in Arizona

Attempt/possesion of marijuana

I am 59, a resident of CA, and have a clean record. I was pulled over and cited for ''Unreasonable speed''(43 in a 35 zone, no radar, the officer was parked. I was also caught and charged with Attempt/possession of marijuana,(4 roachs in a medicine vial w/ my name on it) in Quartzite, AZ I was not cited for a DUI. What would be the best way to plead. Should I get a public defender or hire one? Is it possible to not end with a criminal record (I have a Coast Guard Captains License which will possibly be jeopardized, This is my only means of income). What would be best for me to say/do? The officer did ask me how long I had been smoking and how often. I responded, ''occassionally since 1969, and very seldom, just sometimes on vacation''.

Thanks

Re: Attempt/possesion of marijuana

Possession of any amount of MJ is a felony in AZ. The charges can often be reduced. Immediately contact a competent AZ criminal defense attorney for complete advice. Call the AZ Bar Association if you don't know one. You have much at stake. Do not attempt to go this alone. Good luck.
