Legal Question in Criminal Law in Arizona
my bf was picked up for a probation violation and is finishing his time for federal. he received a letter from county attorney's office saying yes there is an active warrant. no they don't want to place a detainer and no they will not extradite. What does he do?

This means that they will probably let him out of federal custody when he is done serving his time there. He should however go in and take care of the Maricopa County warrant once he gets out. A detainer would be placing a hold on him so they would keep him once he is done with his federal time and extradite means that they would go pick him up. You might want to get the facility he is at now a copy of that letter because otherwise it may result in him being detained a bit longer while they sort it out themselves.
