Legal Question in Criminal Law in Arizona

Consipracy to commit fraud

Federal prosecuters sent me a letter advising I am a ''target'' of a criminal investigation alledging charges of Theft and Fraud. They say I conspired with other fellow employees and two Customs Patrol Officers to defraud the U.S. govt of more than $10,000. Before they present the case to the grand jury, they want to offer me the opportunity to talk with them first. I did not do anything wrong. They advised I have the right to have an attorney present. What should I do? Please advise.

Being experienced in criminal defense, I assure you that you are quite "lucky" to get such a letter as it is the US Attorney's Office way of saying get a lawyer and let's see what we can figure out before we indict and arrest you. This is the best letter that you can receive in a bad situation and it certainly does not mean that you are guilty. I have worked with people in similar situations and hve gotten good results. If you want to hire private counsel (I do not believe that you are entitled to have one appointed) give me a call at (six zero two) two two two - nine two three seven. I will be at this number over the weekend.
