Under the victim right statute, the prosecutor MUST contact the victim and the family if the victim is a minor. The victim has a right to know the plea before it is offered and have input in the process. The prosecutor still has full discretion to issue whatever plea they believe is appropriate. As the offense demands a prison sentence, I must hope you have experienced counsel handling the defense. If you have questions, please call during office hours.
