Legal Question in Criminal Law in Arizona

Criminal Trespassing

My neice dropped her daughter off at school, parked in the directors parking spot, and ran into the office to pay the fee for the school bus. While there the director ran into to the building and called the police. The school would not let her leave the premises, nor retreive her daughter. She was physically locked in the school until the police came. They charged her with criminal trespassing. The school is a charter school. She cannot afford an attorney, the public defender told her to plea. She does not think she has done anything wrong. What are her options?

Re: Criminal Trespassing

I suspect there is more to this story than we are being told in this post.

The behavior described on the part of the school officials would be bizzare at best, and not usually anticipated I would think.

Her best advice is to go to trial under the circumstances you describe.
