Legal Question in Criminal Law in Arizona

Hello, my dad was convicted of the first offense Assult and Disorderly conduct, he doesnt have any criminal past, my mom has couple of bruises but no serious injuries at all, she wants to drop the charges, what are worse consequences or chances of him going to jail, is it worth hiring an attorney for this case?

I take it your father has been charged not convicted. Domestic violence offense should be taken seriously as a finding of guilt could have lasting consequences.
