drug possesion with the inrention to sale

my husband was asked my a mutual friend to go to new mexico and pick up his grandparents . My husband is unployed for the past 3 months so he agree to do that favor.. His so called friend rented a vechicle for him to go in. To make the story short he got pulled over for speeding in navajo county then officer search the ca and the found about 40,000 dollars worth of meth.. I husband swears he didn't know about this.. What do you think the charges be if he is charge with that and this would be his 1st offense.the judge set the bail of 70,000.but we are waiting to see what happens on 12/20/2006 .. what advince can u give me ..

I have two pieces of advice for you.

First, your husband needs a defense lawyer right away. He should retain a private lawyer if he can, otherwise he should get a public defender.

Second, once he has a lawyer, she should be the one he turns to for advice. A lawyer needs to know more about a case than what you have told us before she can say what might happen. If she says one thing based on her knowledge of the case and another lawyer who has less information says something different, your husband should presume she is right unless there is some reason to doubt the quality of her representation.
