Legal Question in Criminal Law in Arizona

Could homeowners insurance be liable in assult and battery incident?

My son ( age 18 ) was attacked by 4 assailants in our front yard in Jan. 2002. He is currently undergoing facial and hand reconstructive surgery. He has already had two operations. The four individuals are all still in jail on charges resulting from the incident. My sons hospital bills are piling up. Do I have recourse with the homeowners insurance my landlord carries on my residence? Do I have any other avenues besides the unlikely chance one of these animals wins the lottery?

Re: Could homeowners insurance be liable in assult and battery incident?

Probably not. Homeowner's insurance does not cover intentional acts - only negligent ones. Usually assault and battery are intentional, not negligent, acts.
