Legal Question in Criminal Law in Arizona

My husband has a 1.8 million judgement by treasery department for a felony charge. this was back in 2004, we married in 08, and thye will not give me a morgage because my husband has this fine. I need a law that states I am not liable for this debt as it was prior to us. Not sure if I nned a attorney to fight this. Or even to fight this for my husdand as he took a plee as they had in jail for over 30 days without charging him. and court date was 3 months later, so they gave him time served in the plee.

If he received time served, I am not sure I understand how he owes $1.8 million to the "treasury" (is that state? federal?). If he doesn't owe any money, you don't owe any money. But if he comes to the marriage with debt that isn't paid that becomes "community property" debt, so to speak, at least while the marriage is in place. Should you divorce, it would be considered a pre-marital debt of the husband and not yours. Good luck!
