Illegal Search and Seizure

I was driving in my car with a mexican friend and i am a black man, in phoenix arizona. the police pulled me over for a license plate light not working, my license and registration were good, I didn't receive a ticket but the officer ask could he search my car, i said no. The officer made me get out of my vehicle and found a controlled substance. I sat in jail for two days then received noticed that the state was not going to file charges. I had no court date,and the police seized my car and auctioned it off. My question is do I have grounds for a law suite? All I want is a Vehicle.

Probably. It depends on how the police officer saw the drugs. If in plain view no. If not in plain view probably yes.
