Legal Question in Criminal Law in Arizona

Interstate compact probation rules

My son is 18 yrs old and does not reside in this state, but is on probation . I am trying to get an interstate compact transfer into my state, so that he may reside with my sister and receive the help he needs. What are the laws/rules regarding whom the probationer is allowed to reside with? I have been told he cannot live wih his aunt only immediate family (me). Do they ever make exceptions, say with a case where it is dangerous for his safety if he remains in his current state, but would be insured safety to be allowed to move to my state to his aunts house?

Re: Interstate compact probation rules

The rules governing probation are dependent upon the nature of the crime and the jurisdiction. For example, one on probation for a sex offense probably could not live in a home with minors. Either way, having counsel assist is imperative as (1) a judge typically has to authorize interstate compact, and (2) the receiving jurisdiction does not have to accept a probationer. Feel free to contact me directly if you are looking to have counsel assist in this process.
