If a juvenile is charged and sentenced as an adult in a criminal case can his parents be ordered to pay restitution? It seems to be a contradiction, adult on the one hand and juvenile on the other.

Not via the criminal court/case, but they may be able to be sued for the loss assuming a proper theory of liability against the parents can be developed.
