Marijuana at Yuma Checkpoint

My daughter and I were caught with ounce of marijuana, a bong, and a pipe. We received misdeamoner tickets for possession of marijuana and paraphenalia. We live several hours from Yuma. Is it possible to call the court, plead guilty and pay the fine on the phone? The border patrol agent told us this might be possible. Thank you.

Call the court and find out what their procedures are. But consider this: you won't have any say in your defense or mitigation to show that you take this seriously and to try to impress upon the court that you should not receive a serious sentence. While the possession is a minor offense, the paraphenalia is more serious. Consider spending the time to make an impression on the court. Alternatively, hire counsel who can appear for you without you having to go to court. That is the better choice.
